Europe Trip (Sep 2010)

Sasha and I took a trip to Europe in September, where we visited London, Paris, and two smaller towns in France - St. Emilion and Bordeaux. We got to explore London with Sasha's grandma (aka Gramms), did tons of walking touring around the city, saw some great theatre, visited the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower in France, lots of wine tasting in St. Emilion, and of course ate lots of great food all over France.

  • Before heading the the Eiffel Tower we visited Sacre-Coeur. It took a climb of over 200 stairs to get to the top of the hill that it sits on.

  • Every hour, on the hour, the Eiffel Tower flashes with giant white LEDs. We got to the Eiffel Tower and I got my tripod set up just in time for the show.

  • The Eiffel Tower at night, withought the bright white LED lights. We got to the Eiffel Tower towards the end of the night and missed (by 5 minutes!) the last ride up to the top.
  • Our next stop was St. Emilion, a small town known for its wine and Chateaus. The Chateau we were staying at was about a mile outside of the city, so after arriving we left our bags and made the trek into the city.

  • We hiked to the top of one of the old towers to check out the view of all of the vineyards.
  • In the main centre of the town is a monolithic church - it was carved out of one stone.
