Europe Trip (Sep 2010)

Sasha and I took a trip to Europe in September, where we visited London, Paris, and two smaller towns in France - St. Emilion and Bordeaux. We got to explore London with Sasha's grandma (aka Gramms), did tons of walking touring around the city, saw some great theatre, visited the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower in France, lots of wine tasting in St. Emilion, and of course ate lots of great food all over France.

  • Walking around St. Emilion, I spotted this courtyard filled with a small pool.
  • Sasha posing for a picture in St. Emilion, France.
  • At the bottom of the hill that St. Emilion sits on is a great view of all of the vineyards and rolling hills that surround it.
  • Loved seeing the Ford in the middle of France... although I don't understand why someone would actually buy one.
  • Looking out from the top of one of the towers in St. Emilion, you can see houses scattering the town and then vineyards, vineyards, and more vineyards.
  • A view of St. Emilion, including it's church, from the top of one of the towers. Couldn't have asked for better weather!
  • We're on the titanic - wait, no... it's just St. Emilion. But don't tell Sasha....
  • We were in St. Emilion just around the time of the year where the grapes have harvested and are getting ripe for the picking.
  • We stayed in the "black & white" room at our Chateau which was - well, black and white everywere! The Chateau was really amazing - outside of our room was a huge sitting area with lots of samplings of their wine, a billiard room, and a gorgeous backyard with a great view.
  • We decided to eat dinner at our Chateau, and had a great view of the sun setting in St. Emilion. The backyard area had a natural pool which you can see in the foreground.
  • Our second day in St. Emilion we had a wine tour with a lady named Caroline, who had moved to St. Emilion and started her own Chateau. Our first stop was the top of the bell tower, which had tremendous views of the country.

  • Sasha and I at the top of the bell tower in St. Emilion. It was quite a hike up the stairs to the top, but the view was definitely worth it.
  • Another view of St. Emilion and the surrounding vineyards.
  • Our next stop on the wine tour was wine tasting at a local Chateau in the city. We got a great tour of where they make the wine, store it in barrells, as well as the huge underground cave that they use as a cellar.
  • Sasha making her way down to the cellar, which was a huge cave where they kept the stock of their wines.
