Jamaica (Jul 2010)

I took a last minute trip to Jamaica with my family in July. We spent a lot of time laying by the beach, but also got out to see the rest of the island. This gallery is a compilation of pictures from my Nikon D90 as well as our point & shoot cameras, and even a disposable underwater camera we brought along for the snorkeling.

  • We decided to take a stroll on the beach. Actually, I convinced everyone we should walk down the beach and about an hour later, we finally did.
  • There were a few boats tied off near the shore. This one looked ready for a fishing trip.
  • A view looking down the beach in Negril.
  • The rain clouds starting rolling in as we were walking down the beach in Negril. Lucky for us, it didn't rain!
  • Another boat waiting out at sea off the beach in Negril.

  • I noticed what looked like an abandoned boat that I thought was really interesting. When I stopped for a few pictures of it, I quickly found out that it wasn't abandoned. The picture was totally worth the harrasment from the group of guys who "owned" the boat.
  • I liked this trail leading out of the parking lot at Margaritaville in Negril.
  • Our last stop on our day trip to Negril was a popular spot called Rick's Cafe where locals and tourists do cliff diving. This picture doesn't do justice to how high the cliff actually was.

  • There was also a tarzan swing, where those daring souls who jumped off the cliff could swing off it.
  • This is one of my favorite photos from the trip. I caught one of the locals hanging out at the edge of the cliff watching the cliff diving at Rick's Cafe.

  • We were at Rick's Cafe in Negril as the sun was setting. I caught this scene of a sailboat off the bay as the sun peeked out from the clouds.
